LGUs Celebrating with us the Chinese New Year
By: Mark Cua
LGU (Local Government Units) are the office of the Mayor and the
Barangays. They are the body of government governing a small state or district
within the Philippines .
For a hundred years or so the Local Governments had been celebrating with the
Chinese people the Spring Festival. They send their regards by tarpaulins, and
other marketing tools.
This
year the current mayor of Manila Alfredo Lim send his regards through
tarpaulins all over Chinatown . He showed his
regards by typing the words ‘恭喜发财’ with their
pictures on it, their position in the LGU (Local Government Unit), and their
name to show the people their regards.
The
Mayor is not the only LGU official to send their regards. Isko Moreno one of the
Councilor of Manila also had his tarpaulin posted and hanged in Chinatown . Same design by with different pictures, name
and position written on it.
This
publicity is called ‘Local Politics’. You show the people how concerned and
care you are to the constituents of the local area. This will also ensure to
reinforce your position and your visibility
in the next local government elections.
However
their intentions maybe there is one thing for sure local politics is involved.
However noble it maybe to send their regards don’t forget democratic government
is one big circus. Politics is never far off.
