MILITARY STANDOFF IN THE SPRATLYS

Philippine Navy and the Chinese Navy had a standoff in the Spratlys regarding the tried effort of the Philippine Military to arrest Chinese fishermen in the South China Sea. The Chinese Surveilence ship armed with guns and missiles stand in the middle of the BRP Gregorio del Pilar and the chinese fishermen. The Philippines seeing the armed might of the Chinese navy took two days of standoff before finally pulling out BRP Gregorio Del Pilar thus replacing it with Coastgaurd Ships.

Spratlys always known to the chinese for centuries as islets in the south China Sea as shelters from Pacific storms. These Islets are illegally claimed by many nations around the south China Sea as part of thier land including the Philippines.

As to historical, geographical, and teritorial aspect, the rightful owner of the spratlys are the Chinese. Through the centuries it had been part of chinese teritory since the early days of the Tang Dynasty. The arrest was disrupted due to the quick action of the PLA Navy vessels to hinder the way of the Philippine Navy.
