Is Religion a Tool for Hypocracy?
By: Mark Cua

All over the world since the days of the Romans in Europe, the first dynasty in China, or the stone ages Religion had existed. From simple Shinto or Nature worship to worshiping an imaginary being we believe to have the power to create and destroy. Some call this Imaginary Being called ‘God’, while Some call this ‘Bathala’, ‘Allah’, or other names.

In the Philippines, there are four dominant religions. Catholicism, Christianity, Buddhism, and Islam. These are the four dominant religions in the Philippines.

Christianity came to the Philippines around 16th Century. It was brought by the Spaniards from Spain in 1516. The Spaniards converted the first batch of natives in the island of Limasawa which is the first island where the Spaniards landed in the Philippines.

Christianity is originally only Roman Catholic. Because of the Religious Revolution incited Martin Luther, Born Again Christian faith was founded. These people are also called ‘Born Again Christians’.

This is the religion of the Americans when they came to the Philippines. They introduced it along with the educational system made by the thomasites.

Nowadays the four dominant religions played an important role in the lives of many of our overseas born Chinese, and the Filipino People.

But there is a sad story when we talk about religion. Many religious devotees are hypocrites. They do more heinous sins more than the atheists themselves. From Roman Catholics to the Born Again Christian fate, almost all believers who worship this imaginary being acts otherwise when they are outside the church.

Inside their churches they say ‘Amen’ but when they are in the outside their churches you can see them acting opposite of what they preach. That is the problem with western religions, they tend to focus solely on searching on the far beyond or on the Imaginary Being which is nonexistent at all. They have forgotten to cultivate themselves.

Unlike eastern Philosophies and teachings like Buddhism, taosim, and Confucianism, it is about self cultivation and how to breed oneself with moral values. It teaches us how to become a gentleman or a man with breeding.

Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism is one of the Indelible parts of Chinese culture. That is what Chinese culture is all about self cultivation. Cultivating oneself morally, physically, and mentally.

There are claims that many of the western religions are one true religion. There is something wrong with this logic. If something happens then they will say that they will say ‘it is God’s will!’. If something wasn’t fulfilled they will say ‘God doesn’t want these things for you that's why it is not given’.
These statements you can hear from church goers are just alibis to cover up their lies and find loophole reasons about the existence of Imaginary Being.

As one of the negative aspect of western religion, they always claim that if you don’t follow them you will go to hell. These claims are not logical and there is no logic behind it. Then no one will go to heaven because all of us are humans and we commit mistakes and sins. Some of these believers are often times have the most number of heinous and heavy sins of all. This includes Lust, Gluttony, Greed, and other deadly sins.

Think about it and don’t say anything first. Think logically if he is really not human then why did the Romans make him bleed through whip and spear. Don’t think about those mumbo jumbo alibi just analyze. Always remember the Japanese had a saying, “Make a man bleed and that he is not an immortal” Maybe the Japanese had a point.
