VILLANUEVA DIES AT OLD AGE
By: Father Daniel Cogul
Villanueva the first Filipino Boxer to bring silver medal to the Philippines in the 1965 Olympics dies in Old Age. He died without any support from the Philippine Democratic Government and remained poor.
His death shows the lack of relevance of the Filipino Athletes and how they are neglected by the Philippine Democratic Government. Villanueva after winning the Silver Medal for the Philippines in 1964 Olympics got no support nor financial assistance from the country it had fought for.
