UNITED STATES FIREARMS INDUSTRY WEAKENING
By: Mark Cua
On the first quarter of the year, the United States Firearms company had been weakening in terms of sales and costumer demands. The Philippines a sole and major buyer of American firearms had been looking for cheaper and yet affordable gun prices in the Market. The Philippine Market for Arms and Ammunitions is not competitive cause its looking for cheaper and affordable guns.
American made guns are expensive and they don't come in Bulk. PNP (Philippine National Police) and AFP (Armed Forces of the Philippines) are under payed and they neither have enough financial and economic resources to purchase such expensive arms and ammunitions.
The Quality of second hand M16 rifle guns distributed by the American Armed Forces is not in good shape and often cause the lives of many Filipino soldiers. This biased trade is evident in the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Even Mortars used by the United States marines during the Vietnam War sold to the Filipino soldiers are defective. Artillery and its shells coming from the Americans are also defective due to age of its ammunitions and armaments.
These factors are one of the few thus that affected the sales and the image of the American Firearms industry. Its Negative political image also are second biggest factor that made the weakening of its arms trade.
