THE SEASON OF LENT

The season of lent was a catholic tradition brought by the spaniards during their conquest of the PHilippines in the 16th century.Every year roman catholics starts the week by having ashes put on their heads as a sign that we all go to ash when we die.

Philippines has one of the most number of roman catholics in asia. It was the only asian nation to have at least 90 percent roman catholic. This was one of the indelible mark left by the spaniards to the filipinos.even up to now it is still part of the daily lives of the filipinos from all walks of life.

Filipino families during the lenten season go out of town and spend time on beaches and outdoor. But traditional lenten season activity was praying the novena and using the rosary in honour the western diety Jesus Christ. As time goes by, many of the filipino families tend to just to go out o town and spend some fun instead of traditional praying together of the novena and the rosary.
