ST BERNARD DOG BREED AND ORIGIN

Dog Characteristics:
St Bernard has smooth and rough fur. For Smooth coat flat and close, for Rough coat Dense but flat. Black Shading is found the eyes and the ears. Mostly red and white fur colour. 

It is a giant dog and it can weight up to 140 to 264 pounds. 

Origin of the Breed:
Their ancestors are the serenhunds. The Mountain Dog The earliest record of Saint Bernard are from Monks at the Hospice. It is called the Great St Bernard Pass in 1707. 

A Known St Bernard is called Barry. He saved 100 lives back then. His body was preserved in Natural History Museum in Berne. From 1816 to 1818, Many of the St Bernards bred died in many of the avalanches while performing rescues in the Alps. St Bernard were cross bred with New Foundland bred. 

The Younger dogs learned search and rescue from the older dogs. They never received from the monks. Saint Bernard Club was founded in March 18, 1884. It is also called Swiss National Dog.
