Before you can learn the basics of martial arts, you must learn how to be a morally upright man. It starts with Confucian teachings. Then Calligraphy is also one of the main activity on building ones own character. It is all about how you mold yourself into words. 

Writting Calligraphy is a step by step process and you cannot write Chinese words starting everywhere. It has its starting point and finishing point. Every word has a meaning and moral meaning as a man. The way you write and spend time to write is also the time you train yourself the way our forefathers did on building their own moral characters.
